Orange County, Calif. May 18, 2015: The internationally recognized Orange County rehab program New Directions for Women was recently named the #2 top womens-only program of its kind in QuitAlcohol.com’s ranking of the top 10 alcohol and drug rehab programs nationwide, New Directions is proud to announce.

The ranking praised New Directions’ “very high recovery rate” and noted the program’s luxurious, comfortable, and attractive environment.

The ranking comes as further validation of New Directions for Women’s unique approach to alcohol and drug rehabilitation. According to the facility, their holistic and gender-separated approach just “produces better results” than other approaches, since men and women often take very different paths to recovery.

Holistic Approach Is Key To New Directions’ Success

Unlike many programs which focus only on specific aspects of rehab, New Directions believes in treating the emotional and spiritual aspects of patients as well as improving their physical health. This custom-tailored holistic approach helps address the root causes of addiction, rather than simply trying to cover up the symptoms. In other words, addressing the unique needs which appear throughout different aspects of a patient’s life allows the alcohol and drug rehab program to facilitate a journey through recovery which is uniquely effective.

The fundamental program offered by New Directions for Women is their Residential Program, which takes clients through a three-level progression of care from the Primary Phase, through a Transitional Phase, and finally into an Extended Phase.

The initial Primary Phase represents the most structured and intensive part of the program. At this point, clients experience intensive individual, family, and group therapy. Their treatment plan is created and tailored to their specific needs on admission, when they work with their Masters-Level Primary Therapist or a Certified Addiction Counselor to determine which treatments suit them best.

Following the Primary Phase, clients move on to a Transitional Phase. At this point, they have earned a degree of independence and can practice their recovery while volunteering, in school, or while working. They return to the New Directions recovery community when the day ends.

After the Transitional Phase, clients enter the Extended Care Phase. Now they have earned a lot of independence, but they still receive therapy and counseling on the individual, family, as well as group level.

Grounded In, But Not Limited To 12-Steps

The New Directions For Women approach is based on the Alcoholics Anonymous “12 steps” approach, but it is by no means limited to it. Since many women facing substance use disorder also have co-occurring disorders like trauma, family dysfunction, mental health problems, or sex addictions, the program also addresses those concerns.

However, the range of services offered goes far beyond traditional therapies. It includes experiential and holistic approaches like equine therapy — where women work with horses — as well as art therapy, rock climbing, meditation, and more. Where children are present, New Directions provides full treatment and therapy for family and children.
