Test-tube Studies Find Resveratrol To Be Helpful For Breast Health

Orlando, FL — April 19 , 2016 - Today, an increasing number of women are fighting a range of fatal conditions such as breast cancer. There are those who improve their diet and lifestyle to increase their immunity against the condition. There are also natural remedies thought to fight the condition, and one is a special antioxidant.

Test-tube studies find resveratrol to be helpful for breast health. Resveratrol is a polyphenol that can be found in red wine and various types of berries. It is an antioxidant believed to offer a range of health benefits and fight a myriad of diseases.

According to Eleanor G. Rogan, PhD, and colleagues at the University of Nebraska, resveratrol has the potential to reduce the processing of estrogen into dangerous compounds. It can also block interactions between cellular DNA and estrogen metabolites.

One of the major risk factors for breast cancer is prolonged exposure to estrogen. Many researchers have even focused on the interactions between estrogen receptors and estrogen on the cancer cells of the breast.

Toxic estrogen metabolites start to appear once the system of the body that processes estrogen starts to get out of balance. It is believed that these dangerous compounds can react with the DNA in breast cells as well as jump-start tumor growth.

Rogan’s team also reveals that resveratrol has the potential to enhance the production of a particular enzyme that destroys the toxic estrogen metabolites. Using this antioxidant could be useful in preventing the first step in the process that results in cancer development.

The researcher even suggests that resveratrol has the potential to stop the entire progression leading to the development of breast cancer.

The findings of the study conducted by Rogan and colleagues were published in the Cancer Prevention Research.

Resveratrol is also an antibiotic substance that is synthesized by plants to protect themselves from the threats of fungus. It is thought that these protective benefits could also be applied to humans.

In a study featured in The FASEB Journal, it was found that resveratrol can inhibit the proliferation of breast cancer cells that are hormone resistant. The findings of this study could be helpful to women who suffer from breast cancer and have tumors that could someday develop resistance to hormonal therapy.

In the study, the researchers use resveratrol in treating different breast cancer cell lines. It was found that the cells treated with resveratrol had a significant reduction in cell growth. It is important to note that no changes were found in the untreated cells (http://amazon.com/Resveratrol-Supplement-Strength-Extract-capsules/dp/B019C0UU5S/).
